Professional experience

Mr. Gorji is an international trade lawyer with particular expertise in export controlinternational economic sanctions, and commercial boycotts, with significant regional experience in UkraineIran, and broader Middle Eastern jurisdictions.

Since 2023, he has coordinated the Trade Barriers and Intellectual Property Assistance Desk established by the Italian Trade Agency in Kyiv. He advises Italian and international companies on cross-border business operations, including offshoringreal estate transactionsforeign investments, and international public procurement, with a geographic focus on Ukraine, Iran, Syria, Turkey, Central Asia, the UAE, and Algeria.

He is an EIFEC-accredited Export Compliance Officer.

Mr. Gorji has worked in both Washington D.C. and Tehran, where he acquired extensive experience in handling disputes between Western and Iranian companies, both in litigation and international arbitration.
His longstanding presence in the Middle East has also led him to develop a specific focus on hereditary succession under Islamic law, with an emphasis on Shiite and Iranian legal frameworks.

He serves as a legal advisor to international chambers of commerce and various industrial associations, and is recognized as a trusted counsel by diplomatic missions in Italy and abroad.

Mr. Gorji has delivered over 80 presentations at national and international conferences, training courses, and seminars, covering topics such as foreign investmentexport control complianceinternational sanctionsIranian law, and Islamic law.

He is the author of the first Italian legal guide on export control, titled “International Sanctions, Export Control and Compliance Programs” (Wolters Kluwer); in Iran, he published the Persian-language book “Doing Business in Italy”(Jangal Editions); and he contributed as a co-author to “World Encryption Controls”, published by WorldECR in the UK.
