Poland’s Economic scenario

One of the most interesting aspects of the country is undoubtedly represented by the solid economic growth, a trend that has continued to be recorded for some time, in a stable manner: Polish economy is the only economy which has not been hit by a recession following the international financial crisis that began in 2007-2008 and, moreover, has also recorded growth rates that are among the highest in the entire Union, and in recent years has reached its highest level of growth in the last decade (reaching growth rates of aggregate output that are around 5% per year). The Polish economic system is diversified, the domestic market is large and the integrations, in particular, with the German production chain are strong. The banking system also appears extremely solid, so much that, according to the main rating agencies, it boasts the primacy of the safest system in Europe, and the banks in the country, if compared to other credit institutions operating on the European market, are considered those with the best economic and equity profiles; this is due to the high level of liquidity present, an extremely balanced ratio between loans and deposits and, in general, high capital ratios. More specifically, 95% of banking activity is carried out by commercial banks and the remaining 5% by cooperative banks.
As for tax profiles, in Poland corporate income tax applies to all income of resident legal persons and to Polish income for non-resident ones, with the ordinary rate of 19%, while at the same time being exempt from taxation some specific activities identified by law (for example agriculture); Value added tax is also applied (with operating and deduction mechanisms that are fully similar to those in force in other EU countries), with the ordinary rate set at 23%.
